Trao đổi với VnExpress.net, bác sĩ Trần Phủ Mạnh Siêu, Giám đốc Trung tâm Y tế Dự phòng TP HCM cho biết, những trường hợp dương tính với viêm não mô cầu xuất hiện trước Tết nguyên đán 5 ca và từ Tết đến sáng nay là 6 ca nữa.
"Tất cả bệnh nhân đều ở thể nhẹ. Chúng tôi cũng đã tiến hành sát khuẩn nơi cư ngụ của các bệnh nhân", bác sĩ Siêu cho biết.
Cũng theo giám đốc y tế dự phòng thành phố, điều tra dịch tễ không tìm thấy nguồn lây bệnh cho các bệnh nhân và cũng chưa phát hiện có trường hợp nào bị lây bệnh từ các bệnh nhân này. Như vậy, các ca bệnh vẫn mang tính lẻ tẻ và được kiểm soát tốt.
Bác sĩ Siêu cho biết thêm, trung tâm y tế dự phòng các quận huyện có người bệnh đang tích cực hướng dẫn người dân thực hiện các biện pháp phòng bệnh như giữ gìn vệ sinh môi trường, thường xuyên rửa tay; khi có những triệu chứng như sốt, viêm họng thì cần đi khám.
Hiện nay, những điểm nóng đáng lo ngại có thể khiến viêm não mô cầu lây lan, theo bác sĩ Siêu, là khu công nghiệp, trường học, khu nhà trọ công nhân.
Bệnh viêm não mô cầu vốn xuất hiện quanh năm tại TP HCM. Theo thống kê tại 3 bệnh viện Nhi Đồng 1, Nhi Đồng 2 và Bệnh Nhiệt Đới, trẻ mắc viêm não mô cầu nhập viện lác đác trong năm nhưng nhiều nhất là trước và sau Tết.
Bệnh do loại vi trùng mô cầu gây nên. 10-20% người khỏe mạnh có vi trùng này trong dịch hầu họng và không phải ai mang vi trùng cũng phát thành bệnh. Hầu hết bệnh nhân viêm não mô cầu có biểu hiện sốt, viêm họng hoặc kèm nổi tử ban (da nổi những vết tím bầm). Bệnh tỏ ra nguy hiểm khi một số trường hợp cấp tính, bệnh nhân bị nhiễm trùng máu, biến chứng thần kinh.
Do bệnh dễ lây lan (lây qua dịch tiết khi ho, hắt hơi), các bác sĩ thường khuyên những người xung quanh phải cảnh giác.
Tại TP HCM, đầu tháng 1, Trung tâm Y tế Dự phòng TP HCM phát hiện một ổ bệnh ở quận 7. Từ ổ bệnh này, cả 24 quận huyện trong thành phố được chỉ đạo theo dõi sát, không để bệnh lây lan và phải báo cáo ngay khi có ca bệnh.
